Recap

short trip to Bishops Lydeard, with the Quantock Hills providing a stunning backdrop, set the scene for a strong performance. We started brightly and were rewarded early on. Around the 8th minute, Mitch Kearley found Finn Hansford, who flicked the ball over his marker, swivelled sharply, and finished neatly into the bottom corner to make it 1–0.

As we edged both possession and chances, it was important to turn that control into further reward—and we did so on 35 minutes. Josh Prowse calmly played forward to Acey Mead, and although the hosts’ keeper reacted quickly to head clear just outside the box, Mead showed great determination to chase it down. He delivered a delightful cross, and Hansford was there again to head home for 2–0. The hosts had one clear opportunity of their own, but Olly Murray dealt with it confidently before the follow-up was fired well over.

The second half saw the hosts attempt to get back into the game, looking to use the slope to their advantage. However, McKenna, Townsend, and Cussans controlled the midfield effectively, while Ward, Sidhu, Prowse, and Hayward ensured things remained composed and disciplined across the pitch. Contributions from Harry Hamblin, Liam Gilbert, Tatenda Gumbo, and Sammy Scott also helped maintain our structure and intensity throughout the half.

Our play produced another goal to seal the result. Acey Mead was again instrumental, making an excellent run into the box before sliding the ball to McKenna. He picked out Kearley, who set it perfectly for Finn Hansford to complete his hat-trick with a composed finish—3–0.
Our hosts scored from a corner in time added on 3-1, but nothing could deny a well earned win.

It was also a moment to mark as we said goodbye to Dan Lindsay, who made his final appearance before returning up north following a two-year training period in Cannington. We thank him for his commitment and wish him all the best moving forward.

Man of the Match: Finn Hansford
