Middlezoy Rovers came into this game on the back of two straight defeats so a result vs Cadbury Heath was vital. A few changes were made coming into the game to keep the squad fresh with games coming thick and fast, starts for Kyle Winter, Jack Chillingworth, Harry Hamblin and Charlie White.
Playing against the wind always proves difficult at the Ethan Berry Pavilion but Middlezoy kept the opposition at bay and created a few chances one coming from Jack Chillingworth chip saved from the keeper and a free header from captain Charlie Lintell that agonisingly went wide from close range. Harry Hamblin with a late run from midfield found himself one on one to round the keeper but was denied by some last ditch defending to clear the ball off the line. HT 0-0.
Middlezoy started the second half very calm and had some good long possession spells, the subs proved pivotal 15mins in. Jack Chillingworth coming off for Sam Dunster whose debut season in the western league. This allowed Liam winter to push on higher in the final third who instantly wins a free kick. Liam Winter’s free kick is inch perfect with Josh Gracie beating his man to head home.
As the game went on more players tired and more subs were made – Noah Brown, Charlie Bridges and Liam Winter coming off who had worked themselves into the ground, coming on Cam Birch, Dan Lismore and Alex Male. Dan Lismore found himself in space and slotted home to make it 2-0. More chances being created a thunderbolt from Harry Hamblin 30 yards out smashing the bar only to be stopped on the line. It was that man again Lismore gambling in the box to tap home 3-0. A lack of concentration late on allowed Cadbury Heath to pull one back from close range.
