Match Day Report:
Another tough away game for Middlezoy Rovers at Bristol Telephones on Tuesday night.
The home team had the lions share of the chances with Travis Knapp standing firm and making some good saves in the 1st half. Middlezoy were restricted to two good opportunities that fell to Charlie Bridges and Danny Lismore.
Middlezoy seemed off key at the start of the 2nd half and in the blink of an eye were 2/0 and dreading the next 35 mins.
A few good challenges from the back 4 and battles won in midfield the game started to swing and the turning point being a red card that was never given to the home team centre back. Middlezoy were hard done by and it seemed to drive the players to succeed.
Cam Birch was introduced and he set Liam Winter on his way as Liam hit the post after a great run and shot across the keeper, within minutes Liam was at it again and cut inside to send a rocket past the home keeper who could only wave at it as it flew past him into the net, the game was now on.
Middlezoy went for broke and introduced, young Acey Mead and the not so young Liam Gilbert.
It was Acey Mead who could have got the equaliser at the far past after a fine Danny Lismore cross, but he was not finished and Acey ran into a blocked shot to score from 18 yards across the keeper into the bottom corner 2-2 – 80mins.
After being 3-3 after 88 mins last week it was a case of be happy with what you have and see the game out.
Man of the match : George Turner.
